About Anu Taila
Anu Taila ("minute-drop oil") is the classical nasya (nasal instillation) oil of Ayurveda, prescribed in Charaka Samhita as part of dinacharya (daily routine) from the age of 80 onwards, and therapeutically across all ages. It combines ~25 herbs including bilva, jeevanti, daru-haridra, yashtimadhu, bhringraj, and brahmi in a sesame oil base.
Nasya therapy — 2 drops in each nostril daily — is considered in Ayurveda to nourish the entire urdhva-jatru region (head, face, neck, senses). Classical indications include sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, headaches, migraine, stiff neck, dandruff, hair fall, and — interestingly — cognitive and memory support via the nasal-brain pathway.
Modern interest has grown with research on nasal-to-brain drug delivery and the nose-gut-brain axis. The Ministry of AYUSH included daily anu-taila nasya in its COVID-19 self-care advisory for respiratory protection. Not a replacement for medical treatment, but a gentle, classically documented preventive.

Therapeutic marsha nasya
Full protocol under Chikitsak supervision — 6–8 drops each nostril with steaming.

Frequently Asked Questions
Daily anu taila — is it really safe long-term?
Classical dinacharya recommends daily pratimarsha nasya (2 drops each nostril) for adults. It is one of the most-documented long-term practices in Ayurveda. Safety is well-established at this dose.
Does anu taila help with sinusitis?
Strong traditional indication and growing modern interest. For chronic sinusitis: 2 drops twice daily for 3–6 weeks often provides significant relief. Acute bacterial sinusitis needs antibiotics — anu taila is adjunct.
Can I use it for allergies?
Seasonal allergic rhinitis responds well when anu taila is started 4 weeks before your allergy season and continued through. Think of it as a "nasal barrier" strategy.
Is it safe during pregnancy?
Pratimarsha (2 drops) is traditionally considered safe and even beneficial for stress relief. Avoid marsha (therapeutic full-dose) nasya in pregnancy.
Anu taila vs saline nasal spray?
Saline cleans mechanically. Anu taila adds herbal lubrication and is considered in Ayurveda to nourish the mucosa. Many practitioners use both — saline morning, anu taila evening.
