About Medohar Guggulu
Medohar Guggulu, documented in Bhaishajya Ratnavali, is the primary classical formulation for sthoulya (obesity) and medo-roga (fat-tissue disorders). It combines triphala, trikatu, vidanga, nagarmotha and shuddha guggulu.
Unlike stimulant fat-burners, Medohar Guggulu works by enhancing agni (metabolic fire), reducing ama (metabolic toxins), and providing lekhana (scraping) action on adipose deposits. Used alongside dietary modification and exercise — never as a standalone weight loss pill.
Clinically indicated in metabolic syndrome, dyslipidemia (elevated LDL, triglycerides), PCOS with insulin resistance, and early fatty liver. Best results in 3–6 month structured programs with lifestyle change.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Medohar Guggulu cause weight loss alone?
No — it supports weight loss when combined with diet, exercise and lifestyle. Expect 2–4 kg/month in structured programs. Standalone use produces minimal results.
Is it safe for long-term use?
Safe for 3–6 month courses with periodic reassessment. Longer continuous use should involve Chikitsak review.
Medohar vs Triphala Guggulu for weight?
Medohar is stronger for obesity with dyslipidemia. Triphala Guggulu is gentler, better for kapha-inflammation and mild overweight. Triphala Guggulu is also safer for long-term daily use.
Works for belly fat?
Central adiposity is kapha-medo-dhatu — classical target. But spot-reduction is not physiological; overall body fat reduction produces localized improvement.
